Our Story...
Hi, welcome to our website! We are Scott and Stephanie Nelson, owners
and operators. We started our company in 2001 in beautiful Lake of the
Ozarks. We now operate all around the Lake and St. Louis area.
Scott & I started the business doing lawn care and small landscape jobs. It was just us and a couple of employees. The lake area was growing like crazy, and we could not keep up with the calls. We realized the Lake area had a need for a “One call and you’re done” full-service lawn and
landscape company, so we jumped at the chance to grow our business,
and we have not stopped since. In 2015 we moved part-time to the St.
Louis area so our boys could play high-level hockey; Bella eventually
played as well. We decided we might as well extend the business while we
were at it, so Nelson Land Service STL was born and became an official
business in 2016. In 2021 Scott suggested we expand to building pools and Nelson Land Service & Pools began operations.
Both locations offer the same services with the same care. Scott still drives
back and forth between both locations weekly. We have come a long way
since 2001. We now have 92 employees and two amazing office managers.
Many of our employees have worked for us for many years and have
become family. We would not be successful without them or our loyal
customers and for that we are super thankful.
Our Family...
We have four kids: Catherine, 29; Nick, 25; Alek, 20; and Bella,17. We also
have two dogs, Honey and Baloo, both 3 years old. We have two grandkids
and two grand-pups. Our business is truly a family-owned and operated
company. All our kids have worked for the company at one point in time or
another. Two of them, the youngest, are currently still employed. Alek
worked on and off through high school but has been employed full time for
two years now. He is our landscape and pool designer. Bella works part-
time in the office and assists with social media. Scott’s brother, Todd, is our
operations manager at our Lake Ozark location. He started working for us
in 2004. He likes to joke that he clocked in on that first day and hasn’t
clocked out since. Todd and his wife, Stacy, have five kids (aged between
22 and 12) between them; and three of their kids have also worked for
Nelson Land. During the early years, my dad, Scott’s dad, my sister, my
mom, and Stacy were either on payroll or just pitching in. Like I stated, we
truly are a family business. I honestly do not know what we would have
done without all their help and support.
